What is a copywriter?

I get asked all the time what I do as a copywriter. Often people assume it’s to do with the law and ‘copyright’. Nope! Sorry to disappoint, but my knowledge in that area is somewhat limited.

However, if you need content writing for a website, email sequence, course materials, ebooks, blogs, brochures, social media posts, speeches, media releases… you’re in luck!

A copywriter writes copy and content designed to get a consumer to take action in some way. Whether you’re looking to make more sales, increase your subscription list, show authority in your area or educate through your learning materials, you’ll need words.

And that’s where I come in!

Why do I need a copywriter?

While most of us can write, that’s usually not enough to create content that works for your business.

Copywriting is a process that taps into the psychology of your ideal customer then speaks directly to them. We look at their pain points and what solution you as a business can provide.

Sounds simple enough, right?

Well, we also need to make sure we capture attention quickly and get the message across in as few words as possible. No room for fluff here!

In a world full of distractions, you need to have a point of difference to stand out. For people to stop and take notice of what you’re saying and have enough of an investment to read further.

Plus, often my clients are so busy working in their business that they don’t have time to work on their business.

Sound familiar?

Another issue is that many business owners don’t know what to write about. Because they’re experts at what they do, they don’t realise other people aren’t and they’re missing a massive marketing opportunity.

So, next time you’re stuck for content, need a website refresh or could use a helping hand getting your message across to your clients, think of asking a copywriter to assist.

It might be just the help you didn’t know you needed!
